Ex-Liverpool star, Jose Enrique has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona this summer.

The Dutchman was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United last summer, but he ultimately opted to remain at the Camp Nou, even though Joan Laporta wanted him sold.

De Jong has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona for as long as possible, but Enrique believes that the 26-year-old would make a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side, following their recent acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister.

“For me, it could be many options, but a number eight is what we (Liverpool) need the most,” Enrique told his YouTube channel. “Obviously, Jude Bellingham is not available anymore. It would be Frenkie De Jong and, for Newcastle, it would be Mane.”

Despite the arrival of Mac Allister from Brighton this month, the Reds are expected to sign more players ahead of the upcoming new season.
