Barcelona presidential candidate and former club director Toni Freixa has stirred debate among fans after boldly claiming that Marcus Rashford is a better player than Nico Williams.
His comments come amid reports linking the Manchester United forward with a potential loan move to Barcelona, with an option to buy.
Rashford, who has struggled for form and favour under new United boss Ruben Amorim, would be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer. The English forward had endured an inconsistent spell over the past season, losing his guaranteed starting spot and facing criticism from fans and pundits alike.
Despite Rashford’s recent dip, Freixa sees him as a superior option to Nico Williams, who was previously on Barça’s radar.
The Catalan giants made attempts to sign the Athletic Club winger, but Nico chose to extend his contract at San Mamés until 2035, effectively shutting the door on a Camp Nou move.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Freixa stated:
“Signing Rashford is great news. He is undoubtedly a better player than Nico Williams.”
