Barcelona defender Jules Koundé saw his remarkable streak of consecutive appearances come to an end as he did not feature in the club’s hard-fought 1-0 win over RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

The French international had played in 104 straight matches across all competitions since November 2023, making him one of the most consistent presences in the squad. However, head coach Hansi Flick opted to rotate his side ahead of the upcoming Copa del Rey final, resting several key players including Koundé, and Raphinha.

Despite his absence, Barcelona continued their impressive form in La Liga, extending their unbeaten run to 14 games (12 wins and 2 draws). A composed finish from Dani Olmo shortly after halftime was enough to seal the three points for the Catalans, who now sit firmly at the top of the table.

Leo Román, Mallorca’s goalkeeper, was named Flashscore Man of the Match after a string of fine saves that kept the visitors in contention for much of the game.

Koundé’s omission marks a rare occasion in recent Barcelona history and highlights the intensity of the fixture schedule as Flick juggles domestic and cup commitments. The Blaugrana now shift their focus to Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, where Koundé is expected to return to the lineup.
