Barcelona secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Mallorca at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Tuesday night, extending their lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid to seven points at the top of the La Liga table with five games remaining.

The only goal of the match came just seconds into the second half, when Dani Olmo showcased a moment of brilliance. The Spanish midfielder collected the ball in a tight space inside the box and, under pressure, fired a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner before Mallorca’s defenders could react.

Despite making several changes to his starting lineup in preparation for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, Barça head coach Hansi Flick saw his side dominate proceedings. Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Román was in inspired form, producing several key saves to keep the scoreline close and frustrate the home side for much of the match.

Olmo’s strike proved decisive, lifting Barça to 76 points at the top of the standings. Real Madrid, who are seven points behind with a game in hand, will face Getafe on Wednesday as they look to close the gap.

The hard-fought win keeps Barcelona in firm control of the title race as the season enters its final stretch.
