Calls for Barcelona winger Raphinha to win the Ballon d’Or have intensified following his standout performance on Saturday.

The Brazilian played a crucial role in Barcelona’s latest La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

With just over an hour played, Hansi Flick’s side were staring down a 3-1 deficit, courtesy of a Borja Iglesias hat-trick.

But Raphinha stepped up when his team needed him most. He first delivered a stunning assist for Dani Olmo to cut the deficit, before scoring the equaliser himself shortly after.

Then, in dramatic fashion, he sealed the comeback with a decisive penalty deep into stoppage time, helping Barcelona snatch all three points and edge closer to the La Liga title.

Raphinha’s heroics have not gone unnoticed, sparking fresh waves of support for him to be recognised with the prestigious Ballon d’Or, in light of his impressive performances throughout the season.
