Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has opened up on the team’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Leganés, shedding light on the pre-match warning delivered by head coach Hansi Flick and the challenges they faced on the pitch.
Speaking after the final whistle, Garcia revealed that Flick had prepared the team for a tough encounter, especially considering Leganés’ recent form against top sides. “The manager warned us about the results Leganés had against the top teams and today was no different,” Garcia admitted.
It was a match where Barcelona had to dig deep. Despite dominating possession for large parts of the game, Flick’s side struggled to break down a disciplined and determined Leganés outfit. Garcia acknowledged their opponents’ strong display, particularly in transition. “They played a very good game. They hurt us a lot on the counterattack in the first half,” he said, highlighting the threat posed by Leganés when turning defense into attack.
In the second half, Barcelona continued to face pressure due to their own errors. Garcia noted that individual mistakes could have proven costly. “In the second, I think we lost the ball a few times, which made things difficult for us,” he explained.
“But in the end, the important thing in this type of game is the three points.”
