Barcelona’s phenomenal run in 2025 has taken Europe by storm. The Catalan giants have gone an impressive 22 games unbeaten across all competitions, reigniting dreams of another golden era at the club. But as Hansi Flick’s men prepare to host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, midfielder Gavi has delivered a timely reality check.

Despite their perfect form in 2025 and their position as Spanish league leaders, Gavi insists the team isn’t getting carried away. “We’re having a spectacular season but we don’t feel invincible, it’s football, you can’t always win,” he stated in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.

That level-headedness has become a hallmark of the new generation at Barcelona. Talents like Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Pedri have risen through the ranks grounded, humble, and determined. It’s that humility, Gavi believes, that will carry them through this crunch period.

“We have to play with humility in every game and remember where we came from,” the 20-year-old said. “That’s the important thing, to keep our feet on the floor and go game by game.”

Barcelona fans are starting to believe again. With the club competing for a possible quadruple – La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, and Supercopa de España – expectations are sky-high. Yet Gavi’s measured outlook is a refreshing reminder that nothing is guaranteed.

“There are still a lot of games to go and we want to win as many titles as possible,” he added. “(But) we have to go game by game.”

As the Champions League returns to the Camp Nou with serious stakes, Gavi’s words are a signal to fans and teammates alike: enjoy the ride, but stay focused. The road to Berlin is long, and only humility, hard work, and unity will carry this Barcelona side to the top.
