Osasuna president Luis Sabalza has expressed his frustration over the scheduling of their upcoming clash against Barcelona on Thursday night.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Sabalza said:
“We’re in the same situation as Barça, which is why we decided to appeal.”
Despite their efforts, the Spanish Football Federation upheld the decision, forcing both teams to play under tight conditions.
“The Federation has decided this way and we have no choice but to play. It’s a pain; we have another game on Sunday, like Barça, and there’s no time to recover, but it’s what it is,” Sabalza added.
Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, also face a demanding schedule, playing twice in less than 72 hours—first against Osasuna and then against Girona. However, Flick made it clear that his team will not use the fixture congestion as an excuse.
“We will not complain about it and will show up,” the Barça boss stated confidently.
With both teams dealing with fixture congestion, Barcelona will aim to push through the challenge and keep their momentum intact.
