Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was very critical of Wojciech Szczesny’s goalkeeping in Barcelona’s 5-4 victory over Benfica.

The Polish goalkeeper made two poor mistakes that led directly to goals in the first half.

For Carragher, he slammed the Barcelona goalkeeper, and called his performance ‘shocking’.

“Szczesny has always been a mediocre goalkeeper. His performance was shocking against Benfica,” Jamie Carragher said on CBS Sports.

For Benfica’s second goal, Szczesny ran out too quickly from his goal, only to clash with Alejandro Balde.

The Polish goalkeeper’s night worsened when his misplaced pass led to Benfica’s third goal and a penalty.

Szczęsny admitted his mistake after reviewing the incident:
“For the third goal, on the field, I thought there wasn’t any contact, but after seeing the replay, it was a penalty. I admit my mistake there.”
