Barcelona’s struggles at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez continued as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Getafe in La Liga on Saturday.

The result marked another disappointing chapter in a fixture that has become a recurring nightmare for the Catalan side.

Despite a promising start, with Jules Koundé heading home the opener in the 10th minute, Barcelona failed to hold their lead. Getafe equalised soon after and deployed a resilient defensive setup that denied the visitors any chance of breaking their winless streak at the venue.

Speaking after the game, Hansi Flick admitted the Barcelona team were disappointed with the result.

“We are disappointed that we couldn’t score more goals,” Hansi Flick said during his post-match press conference against Getafe.

“We had chances to score, especially in the first half. We are disappointed with the result. I’m not happy, but I have to accept it,” Flick adds.

The German however commended Getafe for their resolute defending during the game while questioning their anti-football tactic.

“Getafe defends very well. Today we weren’t effective in attack,” Flick said.

“There was a lot of emotion at the stadium today. It’s new to me. I’m not happy with what happened today.”

Barcelona have not won away at Getafe in five years. It’s their longest winless away run at one stadium in the 21st century.

Barça’s last victory at the Coliseum came in 2019, and since then, they have been unable to overcome Getafe’s dogged approach, earning only four consecutive draws in their away fixtures there.
