‘If he wants to stay…’ – Hansi Flick speaks on Ansu Fati’s future

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed several key topics during his pre-match press conference ahead of the team’s clash with Getafe, including the future of Ansu Fati, a player often touted as one of La Masia’s brightest talents.

When asked about Fati’s situation at the club, Flick clarified that the young forward has not expressed any desire to leave.

“Ansu hasn’t asked me to leave. I haven’t thought what would happen if he did. Whatever he tells me, I will respond to him honestly,” Flick revealed.

The manager also reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing Fati’s development at Barcelona. “If he wants to stay, it’s fine. He’s a La Masia player and I will help him develop,” he added, underscoring his faith in the academy graduate’s potential.

While discussing the team’s plans for the winter transfer window, Flick was quick to redirect questions about new signings to the club’s sporting director, Deco.

“Signings in winter? It is Deco’s work,” Flick said, emphasising that recruitment decisions are outside his purview.

As the January transfer window looms and speculation about Fati’s future persists, Flick’s comments highlight his willingness to support the young forward while trusting Deco to handle any squad reinforcements.
