Rodrygo put in a stellar performance for Real Madrid in their Spanish Super Cup semi-final victory against Mallorca, marking a memorable 24th birthday with a crucial goal.
Real Madrid won the tie 3-0, with Rodrygo scoring the third goal.
Barcelona had beaten Athletic Bilbao 2-0 the previous day, with Real Madrid and Barcelona now set for an El Clasico final.
Speaking after the match, the Brazilian forward expressed his delight, saying:
“I am happy with the win and also to score my goal wearing this shirt on my birthday.”
Rodrygo also said Real Madrid are ready to face Barcelona in the final.
“The final against Barcelona? It’s going to be a difficult game, we are prepared and we want the title,” Rodrygo said.
Meanwhile, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal had also claimed that Barcelona were ready for the final, and didn’t care who they’d come up against.
On facing Real Madrid or Real Mallorca in the final, Yamal said: “We don’t care who we’re going to play against in the final. We hope to win it and go home with the title.”
