Goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal sealed a 2-0 victory for Barcelona over Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.

Lamine Yamal scored the second goal shortly after the hour mark, and was eventually subbed off for Fermin Lopez ten minutes later.

When asked why Lamine Yamal was substituted early on in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, Hansi Flick stated: “I know you’re always looking at Lamine, but we have a team and we have to take care of the players.

“He was coming from an injury and we had to change him after 60-65 minutes. We kept a clean sheet, the team played well and I’m happy.”

Yamal has scored his first goal of 2025 and taken his tally to seven goals and 12 assists so far in the 2024-25 campaign.
