Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has expressed his frustration with the ongoing registration issues involving Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, whose temporary registrations expired on December 31. Both players have been removed from La Liga’s official website, leaving their immediate futures uncertain.
Speaking to the media, Flick acknowledged his disappointment with the situation but remained hopeful for a resolution:
“I don’t want to talk too much about this because it’s not my job,” he said. “My job is to prepare for the game.
“I was in contact with the president at Christmas and today as well. I have the club’s confidence that they have done their job, as I have done mine.
“To be honest, I am not happy with the situation. The players aren’t happy either, but we have to accept that we are professionals. I’m optimistic, but we have to wait for the decision.”
The issue stems from Barcelona’s inability to raise sufficient funds to re-register Olmo and Victor before the December 31 deadline. According to La Liga rules, once a temporary registration expires, a player cannot be re-registered unless the club appeals to the Spanish Football Federation or seeks judicial intervention.
Reports on Friday suggested Barcelona might consider selling centre-back Eric Garcia to Girona as a way to generate funds, but Flick dismissed the idea of the defender leaving Camp Nou.
“I don’t think he will leave, but I don’t know what will happen,” Flick stated. “For us, he is a good player.
“He has had some injuries, but he is a very intelligent player and a player we like a lot. We are not thinking about that.”
Despite the ongoing challenges, optimism remains. Olmo’s agent has voiced confidence in Barcelona’s ability to resolve the issue, and club officials reportedly share this belief.
As Flick and his squad prepare for their upcoming matches, fans will hope for a swift resolution that secures the futures of Olmo and Victor at the club. The manager’s words serve as a rallying call for patience and trust in the club’s management during this challenging time.
