Lamine Yamal suffered a sprained ankle following a reckless challenge from Leganes midfielder Yvan Neyou in the 44th minute of Barca’s 1-0 defeat to the struggling La Liga side on Sunday.

Tests on Monday confirmed a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament, after Yamal suffered a heavy blow.

Barcelona have confirmed that Yamal is expected to be sidelined for 3 to 4 weeks.

This means Yamal will miss this weekend’s La Liga match against Atletico Madrid, and his participation in the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in early January is also uncertain.

Lamine Yamal has had an injury troubled season, as he only just recovered from a recent injury problem.
