Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has spoken highly of Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal.
Luis Fuente has admitted that Lamine Yamal who’s only 17 has a special talent.
“Lamine Yamal is touched by the wand of God,” Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente told the media.
“We must value the work of the [Spanish] Federation and thank the attitude and behaviour of Lamine and all his family for agreeing to play with us. That is marvellous. As time goes by, you realise how good and different he is. Lamine is something different in the national team. But let’s not forget that he’s a very young player, very young. He’s a kid, 17 years old, still in a training phase.
“He will have moments that will be very difficult, where he will be questioned. He has already gone down in football history and that’s when we have to support him. It will happen to him afterwards too, but for that, he has to be well-accompanied. And I’m not just talking about family and advice, but also at a club level. That is fantastic and he will always have it, so they will continue to help him grow.
“When you see that he has that touch… I say that he was touched by the wand of God, that he is different… Players like him have nothing to do with other 17-year-olds. Players like him are much more mature, with a very important degree of responsibility, they interpret and accept any proposal and situation that you propose to them because they are great.
“But I have also seen some of these footballers who have fallen by the wayside. Don’t make the mistake of wanting to walk faster than you have to walk, you can spoil it. You have to control the fact that he plays football very well.”
Lamine Yamal played a key role, as Spain won the European Championship during the summer.
Lamine Yamal has scored three goals and nine assists in just 16 appearances for Spain.
