There’s a lot of back and forth in Barcelona’s quest to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Spanish media had recently reported that Nico Williams had given the green light for a move to Barcelona and that Barca are already working on the financial details of the deal.

Diario Sport had claimed that Nico Williams remains more than keen to make the move to the Camp Nou this summer, and a move could be finalised next week.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that he doubts the information.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer guru said: “From Spain they say that Nico Williams has given the green light to Barca. I respect the newspaper but I cannot guarantee that information. What I know is that Barca are keeping contacts with the player’s agent on a daily basis.”

In a bid to ward off Barcelona, Athletic have handed Nico Williams the No. 10 jersey ahead of the new season.
