Barcelona had a top-class performance, as the Blaugrana smashed Getafe 4-0 on Saturday.

Goals from Raphinha, Joao Felix, Frenkie de Jong and Fermin Lopez, sealed a comfortable victory for Barcelona.

It’s their first heavy scoreline Xavi’s men have registered since September ’23, when Barca smashed Betis and Antwerp with back-to-back 5-0 victories.

Xavi has attributed the fine performance and the team’s recent resurgence to playing Andreas Christensen in midfield.

Xavi hailed Christensen after beating Getafe 4-0:

“[Andreas] Christensen plays very well. The key in that position is to stay well positioned defensively, and he knows that very well.

“I think that his position is one of the reasons for the team’s recent improvement.”

This isn’t the first time Xavi will be praising Christensen for doing the job in midfield.

“Christensen has been really comfortable [against Alaves]. As a defensive midfielder, he gives us order and discipline,” Xavi told the media after the 3-1 win against Alaves.

“I’m happy because we now have a new midfielder.”
