Young Brazilian striker Vitor Roque has since made the switch to Barcelona earlier this month.

However, Roque has been used sparingly by Xavi, and is yet to start a game for Barcelona, not even against third tier side Unionistas.

Against Bilbao, Roque didn’t play a single minute, with Xavi instead opting to bring on Marc Guiu in extra time.

Explaining the reason behind his decision, Xavi said: “We needed more direct football, that’s why Guiu came in and not Vitor Roque.

“Vitor will continue to be important, he will have game time. He is very young, he is 18 years old. I think he has the qualities that can help us a lot.”
