Barcelona president Joan Laporta visited Barcelona’s training ground ahead of the club’s Copa del Rey clash with Unionistas.
Contrary to the negative news making the rounds, Laporta wanted to give his players a lift after their Spanish Super Cup final defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday.
Marca claims Laporta was accompanied by vice-president Rafa Yuste and sporting director Deco, and they directly to the players and Xavi and his coaching staff.
The club president sent out a message of optimism and unity to them.
Xavi said of the visit: “He is the most positive person of all, even more than me. He is eager and motivated.
“He has conveyed to us a message of faith and trust in the staff and players.”
Barcelona came from behind to beat Unionistas 3-1 and advance to the next round of the competition.
