Following Barcelona’s humiliating defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, Man City boss Pep Guardiola has given Xavi some warm advice for the team.
Despite a lot of criticism on the Catalan coach, Guardiola still see the need for Xavi’s side to stay calm.
The City boss said: “[Stay] calm, in the end he lost but he must move forward and recover for the next match next week.
“We have to support the people, and at the end of the year they will decide what to do… Yes, they lost the final match. The opponent must be congratulated, learn from the loss and move forward!
“It’s easy to blame the coach, but the players have to take a step forward, there is no secret, they are the ones playing. It’s not just the Xavi’s fault, we know that this job only lasts five years.
“The players have to take a step forward if the coach stays until the end, the players have to show their quality, they have done it many times before and they will do it again.”
