Barcelona right-back Joao Cancelo suffered an injury in the La Liga clash against Las Palmas.

The Portuguese defender was forced off after 11 minutes of the win against Las Palmas on Thursday, with Andreas Christensen coming on to replace him.

Speaking after the game, Xavi claimed it won’t be anything serious, even though it initially looked like a knee injury, as Xavi was pleased to say that “in principle it’s nothing serious.”

As confirmed by the club, ‘tests carried out on Friday show that first team player Joao Cancelo has a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return’.

Cancelo has scored three goals for Barcelona with two assists.
