Barcelona have lost midfielder Gavi until at least the end of the season.
The 19-year-old midfielder is a key player for the club, and he tore his anterior cruciate ligament last month.
Xavi has now admitted that he may need to sign a quality replacement for Gavi in the upcoming winter transfer window, but admitted that it may be a difficult task nevertheless.
Xavi said: “What we are looking for is to reinforce the squad, whether in winter or summer. With Gavi’s injury we need a profile of Gavi, but it is difficult.
“We work with Deco and the president.”
Xavi also claimed Oriol Romeu was in his plans, despite being linked with a return to Girona.
Romeu hasn’t really been top-notch as expected, but Xavi has said the Spaniard will be useful this period.
He added: “He is very strong mentally and will help us. He will have minutes again and will be ready. Calm and tranquility. He’s very strong.”
