It was a bad news for the Barcelona family on Sunday, as Gavi suffered a nasty injury.
The 19-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for Spain on Sunday, and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Gavi has been ruled out until the end of the season, and Barca legends Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol have advised him to take his return easily.
Carles Puyol said: “Gavi must be patient. I was previously in a hurry to return and paid a high price. I am convinced that he will return to his level.”
Gerard Pique had similarly urged the midfielder to not rush his return. He said: “Gavi’s injury was a shame. What he’s done at 19 years old is amazing!
“The important thing now is that he recovers well, that he should not be in a hurry. It’s possible that mentally he’s thinking about the Euros and the Olympic Games, but I advise him to take it easy and only come back when he’s fully well.”
The Barcelona youngster will be out of action for up to nine months now, reports claim.
