It was a far from impressive performance for Barcelona against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Barcelona had a poor game, as Real Sociedad pressed Barca and made sure to outplay the visitors with a high press and intensity.

Barcelona would however win the game, courtesy of a late winner from Ronald Araujo.

Xavi has admitted he blasted his player’s attitude at half-time.

“At half-time, I asked the players if they were tired. They were not being intense, and that is completely unacceptable,” Xavi said.

“If we play like this in the Champions League, we will not compete. The first half is completely unacceptable for us.”

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil has admitted his frustration after losing to Barcelona on their home turf, as he claimed that they deserved to win the tie.

Imanol said after the game: “I think the fans have to be happy and proud of how we played, but as a coach I am very angry and so are the players.

“What coaches say no longer works for me when we lose when we are better than them, we have to play to win, you have to win by playing the game you have played.

“We have to do self-criticism, because there are already many games that we have played to win and we have not done so.

“When you play better than your opponent, you have to score.”
