Eden Hazard was one of the attendees at the 2023 Ballon d’Or award ceremony.
The former Real Madrid winger was invited as a special guest to present the ‘Golden Boy’ award to Jude Bellingham, who was named winner ahead of Barcelona star Gavi.
The two main contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or were Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and Man City striker Erling Haaland.
Messi was instrumental to Argentina’s World Cup success, while Haaland played a key role in Manchester City winning the treble.
Ahead of the award ceremony, Hazard was asked who he thought would win it, and the Belgian told Telefoot: “It would not be logical not to give the Ballon d’Or to the best player in history in the year he won the World Cup.”
Hazard, however also agreed that Mbappe would have easily won it if Messi wasn’t in contention.
“Without a doubt, 100 percent!” the 32-year-old added.
