Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland are the two favourites to win the Ballon d’Or award.

For Messi, it’ll be his eight time, after a stunning World Cup performance that saw the Barcelona legend lead his national team side to lift the prestigious trophy.

Interestingly, Spanish international and Manchester City star Rodri, has backed Messi over his club teammate.

‘Who deserves to win the Ballon d’Or?’ Rodri was asked at the gala.

“Messi. Don’t tell Erling [Haaland],” the Manchester City midfielder replied, laughing.

Rodri is expected to finish in a top position on the list, for playing a key role in Man City’s treble campaign.
