Barcelona have been accused of bribing ex-referee chief Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira from 2003 to 2018.

Some believe that Barcelona could have gotten certain refereeing favours, which helped the team.

However, Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde has insisted that Barcelona deserved all of their victories, same as Real Madrid.

“Everything that has been won [by Barcelona] happened because they have been the best team,” Ernesto Valverde told the media when asked about Barcelona’s involvement in the Negreira case.

“If Real Madrid won at other times, it also happened because they were the best.”

Ernesto Valverde won two La Liga titles, Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercopa during his time as Barcelona manager.
