Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has remained adamant that the club’s financial woes will continue to get worse under Joan Laporta.

According to Font, the club is getting worse, and the future is looking bleak for Barca as well.

Font has said that the club’s future spending power is in jeopardy, and Barcelona may not be able to keep rising star Lamine Yamal.

Font insists: “The data confirms what we were saying, that we are worse than two years ago. Also, there is a lack of transparency.

“Knowing the real situation is the first step to improve. Our conclusion is that we need a new management model to maintain the identity of the club. If we don’t, we won’t be able to renew Lamine (Yamal) or choose to sign (Erling) Haaland whenever he wants to play in Spain.

“They say everything is going well, we heard the same in (Josep Maria) Bartomeu’s mandate. The patient is still in the ICU and the tests are worse.

“In the 20/21 season 555 million were lost, in 21/22, 169 and last, 330. This is taking ordinary income and expenses. There are 1,054 million ordinary deficits in the last three seasons. This begins in the 17/18 season, when Neymar leaves for 222 million. Without that sale, there would have been 160 million losses. And the situation worsens.

“They went in and did the tactic of emptying the backpack with two problems, because it linked us catastrophically on the subject of Fair Play and we have also not improved.”
