Barcelona’s Champions League opponent, Shakhtar Donetsk have sacked Patrick van Leeuwen as their manager, just after 12 games in charge of the club.

The sack comes before their pivotal Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Shakhtar are currently doing well in their league, and have also gotten three points in their Champions League group from two games.

The Ukrainian side have gone on to appoint one of their own legends, Darijo Srna, to take over the job on an interim basis.

Surprisingly, this will come as Srna’s first ever job as a head coach, and one of his early task will be against Barcelona.

Srna faced Barcelona as a player back in 2009, during the UEFA Super Cup final, and notably, had a confrontation with Lionel Messi.
