Barcelona have since secured the signing of Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque.

The teenager is expected to join Barcelona next year.

The young striker suffered a major injury in September, which is expected to rule him out until Christmas.

According to Diario AS, Xavi has made a phone call to Vitor Roque ensuring him that he is still keen on the striker to join Barcelona in January next year.

Xavi has also told Roque to concentrate on his recovery and that he counts on him in the future.

Meanwhile, Barcelona sporting director, Deco ‘has travelled to Brazil’ to meet Vitor Roque, reports La Vanguardia’s Anais Marti.

Deco is trying to ensure everything works out for Roque to join Barcelona in January, as the club needs a backup for Robert Lewandowski.
