IIkay Gundogan has admitted that he had an enjoyable season at Manchester City, and made a difficult decision to exit the club but further stated that he loves it where he is.

Gundogan joined Barcelona as a free agent over the summer, and has been a key player for the Blaugrana ever since.

The Germany international has revealed that he has always loved Barcelona, and named current boss Xavi, and midfield legends Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets as players he looked up to.

He recalled: “As a child I loved the midfield with Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.

“I’ve had seven fantastic and successful years in Manchester. Last season was glorious. Now I’m very happy to be here and I’m having a lot of fun.

“The most important thing is the love and attraction I’ve always had for this club. There is a certain DNA, a certain way of doing things in football and we have Xavi who knows this style like few others.

“l always admired him when I was younger. Having him here to train us is fantastic.”
