Following the injury to Frenkie de Jong, Barca boss Xavi Hernandez is looking for alternatives in that position.
Summer signing Oriol Romeu seems to be struggling of late, and doesn’t seem to be a good fit at the moment.
Xavi has revealed that he’s considering to push centre-back Andreas Christensen higher into that position.
When asked if he is considering the Dane to possibly replace Oriol Romeu against Granada, the gaffer said: “Christensen would not be the first option to be a pivot.
“There are alternatives like Gundogan… Andreas can play occasionally but it wouldn’t be the first option.”
Christensen has played in the defensive midfield role in the past for Chelsea, and also for Denmark. And he’s done well there.
It would be interesting to see Christensen dazzle in midfield for Barcelona.
