Lionel Messi has always been linked with a return to Barcelona since he left the club for PSG in 2021.

Messi signed up for MLS club Inter Miami during the summer transfer window, and the Barcelona legend has been linked with a short-term deal which will see him play for Barcelona for just two months, during the American off season.

Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino was asked about the surprising rumours claiming that Lionel Messi could return to Barcelona for a short loan.

Martino played coy, as he responded; “Is he going for fun? Maybe he’s going to visit Barcelona. Other than that, I don’t know anything else about it.”

Inter Miami won’t make it to the MLS playoffs, and players of teams eliminated from the league stages can be allowed to go on loan to European clubs till February.
