Robert Lewandowski got off injured in the first-half of the Champions League tie against Porto.
Barcelona released a statement on Thursday revealing that the player injured his ankle.
The Pole was due to represent his National Team in the upcoming EURO qualifiers later this month.
Being key to their qualification hopes, a quick checkup was conducted by the doctor of the Polish national team setup, Jacek Jaroszewski.
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, the medical professional’s words looked scarier than Barcelona’s released statement.
He said: “I spoke with Robert today and saw the results of his tests.
“Unfortunately, the injury turned out to be so serious that it excludes Robert’s participation in the national team’s training and his appearances in the matches against the Faroe Islands and Moldova.
“There was damage to the ligaments of the joint when jumping and the club has already established a treatment plan.”
