Gavi has been involved in just about every game for Barcelona this season.
The 19-year-old is physically fit and hardly ever gets injured.
Gavi was at the fore again, as Barca defeated Sevilla 1-0 on Friday night, and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen believes it’s time for him to be rested.
“Of course we miss Pedri and De Jong,” Marc-Andre ter Stegen told the media after Barcelona’s 1-0 win against Sevilla.
“We need to rest Gavi who plays all the time.”
Xavi also praised the young midfielder after the Sevilla game, and blasted the media for underrating him.
“Gavi is vital for me. You [the press] said he didn’t fit anymore, he wasn’t going to play this season, he’s not gonna be important,” Xavi said after the game against Sevilla.
“Everything that you [the press] have come up with. The truth is that he’s irreplaceable.”
