Sevilla boss reveals plans to beat Barca for the first time in 20 years

Sevilla manager Jose Mendilibar has backed his side to beat Barcelona.

Barcelona play host to Sevilla later today, and the Sevilla boss believes his team can penetrate Barca’s defence.

Sevilla hasn’t won at Barcelona’s home for the past 20 years.

“How to beat Barca? They have very good players, but I think they are conceding more goals than last season,” Sevilla coach Mendilibar told a press conference.

“It makes you think that we can create chances. To win, you have to score more than one goal, because these teams score at least one goal.

“We’re in good form and I hope we can keep it going. The results have been better since the international break, we haven’t conceded as many goals… that benefits the group in every way.”

He concluded: “It’s been a long time since I’ve won there [at Barca]. We have to be brave without solely focusing on our opponents. If we focus on ourselves I’m sure we can win.”
