Barcelona are trying to manage their financial situation, and given the club’s current economic state, the La Liga champions will again be looking for bargain deals to strengthen their squad.

According to reports, Guido Rodriguez of Real Betis had been touted as an option, as well as Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, who has been linked with Barca for a while now.

SPORT is now claiming that Barcelona are targeting another potential free agent for 2024 in the form of Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City.

The 26-year-old Nigerian international is set to become a free agent next summer as his contract with the Foxes is set to expire.

Barca are said to be monitoring the situation of the Nigerian international who once attracted heavy interest from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, La Liga president Javier Tebas has said that Barcelona will still need to make extra efforts if they want to sign new players next season.

Barcelona have done well to bring in new players without spending much, and also cut down on the club wage bill.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Movistar+, Tebas hailed the work done by Barcelona over the summer transfer window, but doesn’t think Barca are safe yet.

“It has improved a lot. They have made an effort in their salary bill. I think they still have to make an effort for next season, but they have managed to incorporate good players,” the La Liga president was quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

He added: “If they sell a player, they will be able to bring new ones. It is not yet in the 1/1 rule.”
