Lionel Messi has literally won everything there is to win in the game, and he’d go down as the most successful player in his generation and also the history of the sport.

The Argentine has won 7 Ballon d’Or awards, and is in the running for the eight one.

For Messi, he has said that there are some trophies he values more than the Ballon d’Or.

Messi said in an interview: “The Ballon d’Or is a beautiful honour, but I was lucky to win everything: the Champions League, league titles, Copa America, and World Cup.

“These are the important trophies [than the Ballon d’Or].”

Messi could yet again win the Ballon d’Or this year, following his remarkable World Cup performance.
