Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde was very delighted with his new deal at Barcelona, as the 19-year-old penned a new five-year contract with the club.

The academy product has penned a contract until 2028.

The left-back has been a top player for Barcelona since bursting onto the scene, and took over the role from Jordi Alba with relative ease.

Balde said, “I’ve been at the club for thirteen years now and all I have are good memories. My dream was always to make it to the first team and, officially, that dream is reality.

“I can only thank those who have helped me; also to the president, the coach, who gives me confidence every day. Getting there was in my mind, but it is a very long road. Not all children can fulfill that dream. But with work, effort, and hours dedicated to this, it has been achieved.

“I hope to continue contributing the same as until now or do it even better. I’m 19 years old, a lot to learn. I have five years of contract and when it ends I will be 24. I will still be very young.

“My goal here is really to learn and improve.”

On being handed the No.3 shirt which was last worn by the legendary Gerard Pique, he said: “Each player has his own story. He has been an important number, because Piqué has been a legend. But more than weight, he is a source of pride.”
