Ferran Torres has been one of the surprise package of the season so far.

The 23-year-old has come under massive criticism since his move to Barcelona over a year ago.

He was below par last season, and was even linked with an exit from the club during the summer transfer window.

Torres was against leaving Barcelona, and has done really well this season, scoring three goals so far, with the latest being a scintillating free-kick.

Speaking about his impressive form after the game against Real Betis, Xavi admitted no one knew Torres will pick form in this manner.

The Barca boss said: “In the summer, Ferran Torres told me that he was going to stay.

“In his mind, he only thought about doing well at Barça. Practically nobody believed in him, but he’s proving the doubters wrong. He has incredible mental strength.”

Torres had vowed during the holiday that he was going to do everything possible to impress this season, and he has.
