Barcelona snapped up Portuguese duo Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix during the summer transfer window.

Both deals were loan signings, as the two players joined Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.

Barcelona initially planned to include a €30m buyout option in Joao Cancelo’s loan deal, but that didn’t happen due to financial constraints.

New Barca sporting director, Deco, has revealed that Barca won’t sign the two players permanently, except they impress while on loan.

“There are no buyout options in both Joao Felix and Cancelo deals – these are simple one-year loans,” Deco has told the media, via Fabrizio Romano.

“If they perform at a good level, we will try to keep them at the club. We will be on it, but this is not something to be discussed today.”
