Barcelona striker Ferran Torres wasn’t initially included in the Spanish squad for the international games.

However, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente decided to hand Torres a call-up, following injuries to Marco Asensio and Dani Olmo.

Luis de la Fuente has now declared that Ferran Torres deserves his call up.

However, De le Fuente admits the player needs a confidence boost.

“I’ve known Ferran Torres for many years, I’ve seen his evolution and maturity as a footballer,” he said.

“He needs more confidence to be the Ferran we need. We can’t use players of this calibre,” he also warned.

Therefore, with the injuries to Marco Asensio and Dani Olmo, “we considered it the right time to call him up due to the absences.”

The Spain coach added: “He won’t waste the opportunity.”
