No two players of the same generation have put themselves to the sword as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The legendary duo dominated the game for nearly two decades.

Back in 2017, Ronaldo said the rivalry with Messi was only just starting, as both players had won five Ballon d’Or apiece at the time.

The GOAT debate has gone on for a long time, but Ronaldo has called truce, saying that the rivalry is no more.

“The rivalry between me and Messi was good. Fans loved it. Now that rivalry is over,” Ronaldo said ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifiers.

“If you love Cristiano, you don’t have to hate Messi. We have changed the history of football.”

Messi and Ronaldo are great players, but even Ronaldo will admit that Messi has beaten him in the GOAT debate.
