Barcelona seem to have solved their right-back problem following the signing of Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.

The new defender replaced Sergi Roberto at right-back, as he came on at halftime against Osasuna for his Barcelona debut.

Cancelo had a good game, and was a constant threat down the right flank.

Cancelo has said he hopes to start games for Barcelona at right-back.

“We’ll see if I can start as a right back,” Cancelo said.

“It will be hard because there are many quality players, but I will work hard to be there.

“I’m very proud of my debut for Barça, it’s a massive prize for me.”

Meanwhile, Xavi has said he wants Cancelo to contribute more in midfield for Barca than just a traditional right-back.

“Cancelo needs to join the midfield in attack, I told him to do that before he came on. He will give us numerical superiority in midfield,” Xavi said.
