Pedri has picked up a right hamstring injury and will be out of action for over a month.
Reports claim Pedri will be out for more than six weeks.
Villarreal head coach Quique Setien, has said he’s happy Barcelona will be without their star midfielder.
“[Pedri] is an exceptional player. I’m not happy that he’s injured, but it’s a relief for us,” Villarreal head coach told the media.
“We are aware of his abilities because he’s an extraordinary player, so it’s a relief that he can’t play.”
Pedri will miss the weekend tie against Villarreal.
He’s also expected to miss the following games Osasuna (3rd September), Betis (17th September), Celta (24th September) and probably Mallorca on 27th September.
According to reports, the earliest Pedri can return to action is in a month and a half, that is late September or early October.
