Barcelona may ship out Marcos Alonso this summer, as the 32-year-old has been earmarked as one of those to leave Barca this summer.
Aston Villa have been linked with the Spanish full-back, and according to AS, the Premier League side are eyeing a summer deal for Marcos Alonso as the transfer window draws to a close.
Alonso joined Barca from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 after quitting Stamford Bridge by mutual consent.
Although not a key player last season, Alonso was a part of the team and made 37 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, and scored three goals in the process.
Although used as a centre-back by Xavi a couple of times, Alonso is primarily a left-back, and is capable of playing as a left wing-back.
Alonso’s versatility is what has made him an interesting choice for Unai Emery, who’s now in charge of Aston Villa.
Alonso’s time at Barcelona is believed to be up. The veteran is yet to be registered in the La Liga for the new season, and could be sacrificed to make space for potential reinforcements before the close of the summer transfer window.
