New Barcelona signing Ilkay Gundogan has been awarded as the German player of the year.
The 32-year-old picked up the German Player of the Year award at the SportBILD ceremony.
After a sensational season with Manchester City, where he won the treble under Pep Guardiola, Gundogan is indeed deserving of the award.
Gundogan was accompanied at the gala by teammate Robert Lewandowski, who has been friends with him from their Borussia Dortmund days.
Gundogan was asked about his move to Barcelona and whether Lewandowski had any hand in it.
Gundogan responded: “His [Lewy’s] eyes were shining when he was talking about the club… He assured me it would be a great move.”
Congrats to Gundogan.
