Barcelona have confirmed that defender Ronald Araujo has picked up a hamstring injury.

Although he managed to complete 90 minutes against Getafe at the weekend, it’s now been revealed that Araujo suffered an injury to the femoral biceps in the hamstring of his left leg.

As expected, this injury tends to take around a month to recover from.

This comes as a major blow for Barcelona, with the Uruguayan being one of the top defenders at the club.

Javi Miguel of AS has issued an update on the Uruguayan’s potential recovery time, and when he’s expected to be back.

According to the journalist, the club are hoping to have Araujo ready for the Champions League group stage Matchday 1 on September 19/20.

Here are the games he’s likely to miss:

Home game against Cadiz – August 20

Away game against Villarreal – August 27

Home game against Osasuna – September 3

The Osasuna game will be followed by the two-week international break

Home game against Real Betis – September 17

If he heals faster, Araujo could be back for the Betis game.
