Neymar was linked with a return to Barcelona this summer, but the transfer has failed, as Neymar opted a move to Saudi Arabia.

Neymar has sealed a move to Saudi Arabia Pro League Al Hilal, where he will earn €150m per year. Al Hilal will also pay PSG around €90m.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona had serious interest in signing Neymar. Joan Laporta, Mateu Alemany and Deco all wanted Neymar to return to Barcelona, but Xavi strongly opposed the move.

Aside Xavi’s stance, Romano claims Barca would have struggled to register Neymar due to their financial problems and La Liga restriction, although Alemany and Deco had a plan to sign the 31-year-old Brazilian.

Neymar played with Xavi for three years at Barca.

Neymar has now joined Al Hilal where he’d earn a whopping salary.
